PART C
Ashley Beedle has been involved in more projects than a US building marshal. His style is as diverse as his hometown’s cultural crucible (London) and his productions have been championed by artists ranging from Danny Tenaglia to Fabio and Grooverider as well as Gilles Peterson to John Digweed. Where do we start in doing this man’s career justice in so few words? He brought house music to Notting Hill Carnival (with Shock Soundsystem), he produced one of the first British garage tunes and his initial production as Black Science Orchestra on Junior Boys Own broke him internationally. X-Press 2’s massive hit, “Lazy”, an inspired collaboration with former Talking Head David Byrne, and other number one hits has meant X-Press 2’s albums have traveled the globe and at the time of writing this they are currently number one on the US Billboard Club Breakouts chart, again.Ashley’s remixes have ranged from pop and rock bands, little house labels; hip hop mixes, house mixes; as a solo remixer, and as part of X-Press 2. There really are too many to mention, though Elton John’s number one hit “Are You Ready for Love?” and Bob Marley’s “Get Up Stand Up” spring to mind.

DJ Cottich AKA Soulparanos Born in 1976, he grew up with radio fm, listening to the commercial release. At the age of 13 years old, he was still listening to Madonna & Iron Mayden!!! One time in its ghetto, he met some guys who listened to a tape, within Fat Larry’s Band, Bt Express, Eddie Kendricks, Samba Soul & Khemistry !! What a shock in his life !! So he started to buy every various artist cds released in the Virgin mega store, but unfortunatly there wasn’t the best & the rare funk & soul in those cds, After years looking for the right and left to find hidden gems of soul music, listening to new jack & rnb in the 90′s, he decide to find out some “old school” record store, in little shops…once got inside, I heard sounds I had never heard before, because it’s vinyl !! That’s it !! All the best & rare tracks was there, but now he needed money to buy those vinyls & 45,of course he needed a turntable !!! And that’s how it all begun !! Now he is a vinyl collector since 2000, member of The Soulparanos since 2005 & Dj since 2007. He plays its sound in Paris, L.A & Madrid for 2 years, but now, instead of playing Dj for a few hundred bucks, he prefer play for friends’s free & make various artist cds, before to produce its own sound in the future… “Salute Eld & TSONYC !!

“My journey into becoming a DJ began in 1981. I was in a dance group called “The Boy scouts” we were at this club in Chicago called The Playground. The resident DJ was Farley Funkin’ Keith, now known as Farley Jack Master Funk. He was one of the hottest DJ’S back in that time. Listening to him spin, the tricks, the blends, and the records he played, grabbed me by the collar. I enjoyed the way the crowd responded to the way Farley was playing, how he held their attention, never letting them go.
Month’s later I bought a pair of Technic turntables and a Teledyn mixer. I began my record collecting by purchasing records from stores like Import ECT, Loop records, Second Hand Tunes & Gramma Phone. Just to name a few, songs like “Keep On Dancing,” “Keep Your Body Working,” “Martin Circus” “Klein MBO Theme,” were some of the hottest records out.
Now as I began maturing in music Disco and Garage became another one of my passions. From the playground I went to Mendell, Sauers, C.O.D.’s, Bismarck hotel and other parties. At C.O.D’s, there was this DJ by the name of Lil Louis. He was one of the hottest DJ’s in the 80’s of the house scene in Chicago, as well as a very dynamic producer. He really touched me with his tracks and the mixture of disco. There would be five hundred + people at these parties. No one going home until the wee hours of the morning.
But it wasn’t until I heard the great late, legendary, Ron Hardy spinning at this club called The Muzic Box, which was located on Lower Wacker Drive. From the time you walked into the Box you were captivated, put in a trance. It was dark, with only the brightness of the flashing strobe lights bouncing off of the walls. The sound system was one of the best in the city. Ron Hardy knew how to grab the crowd. He knew how to work the crowd. He made many edits of certain records, and he was even a record producer. With his style and the system no track or record ever sounded the same.
This made me want to really learn the craft. I began trying different things with records until I developed my own style. I have had the pleasure of spinning at clubs such as Retno 5, The Concrete Jungle, Jackson Harbor Bar & Grill, Hi Ricky’s, The Fiz Bar, Slicks, Family Den just to name a few.
Some of the past DJ’s who were a major influence on me were: Farley, Steve Hurley, and Ron Hardy, Lil Louis, & Frankie Knuckles. Some of my present influences: Mark Grusane and Mike Cole of Mr. Peabody records: much love, and Baby Funk Roy, Joseph Colbourne ( He’s the real deal!!!! ) also I must not forget Soul in the Hole’s Lee Collins and Sadar Bahar.

LAST PART...OF 3 PARTS .....Ashley Beedle has been involved in more projects than a US building marshal.

Luca LTJ Trevisi (LTJ Xperience) began his dj/producer career in the 80s. As resident dj in two of the most famous Italian clubs of the time, Kinky in Bologna and Cap Creus in Imola, he was one of the first Italian jocks to spin House and to re-propose those black music, jazz and latin-bossa classics from the 70s that at the end of the same decade would have given birth to the Acid Jazz and Rare Groove movements. His first single release in 1988, titled First Job, together with Kekkotronics, was also the first release ever on Bologna based Irma Records. It was featured in a lot of compilations of the time and entered several playlists, rapidly reaching cult status for many UK and US djs. During the early 90s LTJ delivered a couple of singles in a kind of pre-breakbeat style: Dont Stop The Sax, released all over Europe, and Funky Superfly. He also produced US singer Tameka Starrs single Going In Circles, always for Irma Records, still a classic in the downtempo/r&b field. In the second half of the nineties Luca began to produce acid jazz bands like Bossa Nostra, still today one of Irma Records main acts. Their first album had Vicky Anderson as special guest and today is still considered one of the most important European acid jazz albums. In the following years he concentrated on developing his activity as collector and rare vinyl merchant, which gave him the chance to get in touch with djs from all over the World and to discover many forgotten gems from the past years. Thanks to this experience he was able to create two extremely successful rarities series on Irma Records: Groovy and Suono Libero. In the meanwhile LTJ started to dj outside Italy too, performing in important venues like the Blue Note and Jazz Café in London, Giant Step in New York and Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. 1999 saw the release of his first solo album under the LTJ Xperience moniker. The album was produced with the collaboration of fellow Irma artist and producer Ohm Guru and had Taka Boom and Jackson Sloan among the guests. Two of the main tracks on the album are brazil house classic Sombre Guitar and title track Moon Beat, which became a true hit of the Chill Out genre, featured in dozens of important compilations. This new single, Ordinary Guy, followed by a new album in the spring, is the outcome of a meeting between Luca Trevisi and legendary Hispano-American singer Joe Bataan. Mr. Bataan created the term Nuyorican (abbreviation of Newyorker and Puertorican) and the Salsa Soul music style, where the name of seminal 70s label Salsoul, of which he was one of the founders, came from. His most important composition, for connoisseurs of this style, is Ordinary Guy and the track was picked by Gilles Peterson for one of the volumes of his early acid jazz comps Jazz Juice in the 90s. Joe Bataan has re-recorded the song specially for LTJ, with his musicians as backing band on this new, updated, uptempo version. The single was pressed in December only for the Japanese market and since then the demands been growing. The close official release will probably see it invading dancefloors everywhere.
